#SourdoughSeptember Day 13

It’s been a heck of a week, both on the blog and in real life.  We’ve had reviews of books and equipment, poetry (in English and French!), record numbers of visitors to the blog, and Charlie has had his first full week of school!

firstday

It’s half past nine on a Friday night and, to be honest, all I want to do is go to bed.

“But wait!”, I hear you cry, “What about your lovely sourdough starter which kept us all so entertained last week? How is he getting along?”

Well you’ll be pleased to know that he is bubbling away nicely in his little corner of the kitchen, watching the world go by and waiting for me to remember to feed him.

At the risk of making him sound like a pet he has been fed every couple of days (basically when I have remembered to do it!), each time with a scoop of flour and half a scoop of water.  I pondered leaving him in the fridge where he would have happily sat out the week without a feed but, seeing as I’m doing this blogging malarkey, I didn’t know when I might need him so I left him out.

By the way, seeing as he is apparently male (don’t look at me – you started it!), perhaps we should give him a name.  Any suggestions?

My last sourdough starter was called Sammy but unfortunately his time drew to a close when I accidentally forgot to keep some back and baked the whole starter into an (admittedly very delicious) loaf – oops!

Tomorrow I plan to bake again, what it will be I have yet to decide.  Until then our starter will sit happily on his shelf and I shall have an early night.  Bonsoir!
