#SeptemberSongs Day 23 – Robin Hood and the bold pedlar

This summer we went on holiday to Sherwood Forest where we spent 5 days making bows and arrows and pretending to be Robin Hood.  While we were there I thought I’d learn a Robin Hood folk song (of which there are many!).

I found this one in the Penguin Book Of English Folk Songs, although looking back at it now I appear to have missed out a few verses while I was learning it, oops!

The story dates back to at least the 14th century although the song has various forms over the years, this particular version dates back to the 19th century.

Enjoy!

Lyrics: from memory
Takes: 4 (although 2 of those were stopped by the computer crashing!)
